After spending zero time focussing on physical fitness, I thought age 36 was the time to start! My original goals were to learn more about what my body could do, and to make time for physical activity in general. I found the Powherful program via Instagram and booked in for a session to meet Kirsty. Right away I found the SMA gym to be a super welcoming and inclusive space.
The Powherful program ticks all the boxes for me - with classes available 6 days a week across mornings and evenings, it's really easy to fit a few sessions in around my busy week. In fact, I've gone from feeling like I had no time for exercise, to fitting everything else around my Powherful sessions because I don’t want to miss them!
The women in the Powherful group are all really lovely and it's so inspiring to see what they can do. Although we train in a group, everyone is on their own journey and the only person you need to worry about impressing is yourself.
And I really have impressed myself! In just 4.5 months I have found my body has changed in all sorts of ways that I never expected, and it's so exciting to achieve new goals and see how much stronger I'm getting. I have lost weight, but I don't really bother weighing myself anymore as it seems irrelevant compared to the other benefits of feeling stronger and more mobile. I’ve also noticed a real positive impact on my overall mental health.
Kirsty is an awesome trainer - She is super hands-on at every session and constantly offering guidance and tips for improvement. My form improves each week with Kirsty’s guidance and I can always count on her to point out when I should increase my weights!
Kirsty's program is so much more than just workout plans, it's nutritional advice, goal setting, mindfulness and overall wellbeing education. She has and does put SO much work into the program, and the app and the guidebook are comprehensive and easy to use. She’s super positive, reliable and always available to answer any questions.
I’d definitely recommend the Powherful program to women of any age or ability who want to develop a better relationship with their body… or just want to learn how to pick up heavy things!
