Journalling - The Best Tool for Self Reflection

One of the most powerful tools I have used for self care and to change my habits is self reflection journaling.

My quick and favourite way to journal daily is to write for just 5 minutes each day:

  • 3 things I am grateful for

  • 1 win for the day and celebrate it

  • 1 challenge for the day and why that is challenging me

  • 1 lesson that I learned

  • I also have an expression section for anything that is on my mind that I want to express

Once a week as a recap I also do a big reflection:

  • Write as many things I am grateful for I can list in 2 minutes

  • 3 biggest wins for the week

  • 3 biggest challenges

  • 3 biggest lessons that I have learned

This has given me more clarity on myself and my progress each week than any technique I have used before.

I can see patterns arising, take notice and reinforce what IS working and notice if I am falling back into habits that don’t serve me.

This technique has allowed me to reduce my coffee habit from 1-2 a day to 1 a week as a treat, consistently get in my training sessions, and to track my calories everyday!
